Bespoke Storage

We were asked to create something with a farm style vibe for the best farm cafe in Durham, for the till area, wall shelves, and bar. Using chunky pine from Arbor Timber, Langley Moor, Durham, and good old sheets of OSB, we made a lemonade style stand for the till area, and simple and effective overhead wine glass storage, as well as some wall shelves, and a funky bar that serves local ales and beers. This lovely couple asked us to change an old bathroom ensuite into a walk in wardrobe. We strengthened the floor with 12mm beech ply, and fitted a bespoke frame for the doors the couple had chosen, finishing it off with all wooden skirting and architrave to match the existing in the bedroom (thanks Arbor Timber). Nice little day’s job.

At the top of the stairs on the landing, can you create a bookcase in an un-used bit of space? No problem. Bespoke from scratch, with all materials from Arbor Timber, Langley Moor, Durham, and classy stainless steel shelf supports, with a little electrical jiggery-pokery to move a light, this space now boasts a great collection of books. Finished with Liberian Black Bison Furniture Wax.

In Durham City, we were asked to remodel a bedroom. We worked with Howden’s Belmont, Durham and over a couple of days installed this very pleasing set of built in wardrobes, drawers, and dressing table, working round the existing carpet and making sure all those little finishing details (skirting and scribing to walls) were just right. Nice little project, for a very happy customer.

Whilst working on a bathroom, the lady of the house asked us if we could do something with an un-sightly alcove in her bedroom. We created a beech ply (requested by the customer) custom shelving and hanging rail built in wardrobe, with some oak doors to close it all off, and finished it with Liberian Black Bison Furniture Wax. Lots of storage space where there once was none. Very happy customer.

Completely bespoke, with Blum "soft close, touch to open" runners, and made of quality birch ply (thanks Arbor Timber), these built in drawers made a messy, unsatisfying space eminently more useable and more efficient, and made the hall in this house look super clean and tidy.

Unused space can be annoying, but filling it with something interesting was what this couple wanted; something that followed the curve of the sofa but was unobtrusive, beautiful, and useful. We used solid oak worktops, and mdf templates and flush trim router bits to create a subtle curved shelf, supported by legs to create different storage spaces, and classy brass inserts to feed the electrics up onto the shelf. Finished in Oslo PolyX Oil, and very much enjoyed and used.
